It's horrific what horrors these strategists will encourage or tolerate in order to pursue their desires for regional control and hegemony.

Brookings Institute document, 'Which Path to Persia' (2009). I forget who pointed it out the past week but I downloaded it. 'Chapter 4: The Airstrikes' and 'Chapter 5: Leave it to Bibi: Allowing or Encouraging an Israeli Military Strike'. Part 3 is 'Toppling Tehran: Regime Change'.

Such documents are always worth looking at but the trouble is that these analyses themselves are part of the game...

“The current situation is a win-win for the US deep state which wants the Iranian ‘regime’ overthrown and also Israel’s current, extreme rightwing Zionist leadership removed and potentially prosecuted.” This is inaccurate, especially under this administration and it’s not lost on me that Trumps predecessor claimed himself to be shamelessly Zionist, a sitting president sided with a genocide administration which would do the USA great reputational damage. Israel has unwavering support from the USA, both parties are funded by aipac, you’ll never see a beneficiary of aipac donations being critical of Israel and the ones who do, do it at their peril because the lobby is just too strong. Until I see the United States vote against them in a UN resolution I feel as this view doesn’t mesh with reality. Trump gave his Zionist funder, Miriam Adelson, the presidential medal of freedom ,upon or subsequent to getting $100 million from her for his campaign. There will be no overthrow of the Israeli government carried out by the USA at least not in the next 4 years of trumps tenure. Most of the majority stakeholders and foreign policy elites in both parties have been bought. Isreal will get what they want irregardless of contravening international law because the USA will veto any UN resolution geared toward holding them accountable.

The point I am making in this post is more subtle but also not new: the 'deep state' transcends administrations, whether Republican or Democrat, which is why it is the primary determinant of US foreign policy and national security strategy.

As I wrote in previous posts, I don't think the deep state wanted Trump in - so in that sense I agree with you. However, they will make the most of him - such as his decades-long hostility to Iran. They can also continue to operate in a way that goes against whatever Trump and the likes of the Adelsons want, through the likes of Gabbard and others. I wouldn't bet on Netanyahu surviving much longer than he will be useful for. Right now that's looking like another year at most.
